Our First Annual PYBL Summer League
is in the books!!!
We had a great turn out over the past 10 weeks, some better than others, overall I think the kids (and parents) really enjoyed being able to get back on the court.
I just want to say a huge THANK YOU, to all the parents that stepped up to help out. Without parent volunteers we wouldn't be able to offer this to the kids.
I am working on getting the registration set up for the regular winter season, so check back here around September 1st for a link to register!!
Good Evening Everyone,
After the year we have all been through, its nice so to say SUMMER IS FINALLY HERE!!
Last Saturday was our first day of the PYBL Summer League and it was AWESOME to see the kids (and parents) back on the court.
We had just under 50 kids playing, and it could not have happened with out all of the volunteers that stepped up to help out. We even had some new Moms and Dads that coached for their very first time.
n trying to keep up with the everchanging mask guidelines, I have recently learned that masks are still required indoors. Please make sure your player has their mask with them at all times. If they need to remove the mask from their face while playing in order to breathe, I am okay with that. All players who are not playing must have a mask on.
Exceptions are: persons with a medical condition, mental health condition, or disability that prevents wearing a mask. This includes persons with a medical condition for whom wearing a mask could obstruct breathing or who are unconscious, incapacitated, or otherwise unable to remove a mask without assistance.
Hopefully this will change in the near future.. I apologize for the previously stated mask information.
2021 Summer League
Registration is Open!!
Dear Players and Parents,
We have some GREAT news!!
Dust off your basketball, lace up your Jordan’s, and come join us for the 1st annual PYBL Summer League.
The league will start on June 12th and end August 21st. Games will be played at Meadowbrook Middle School on Saturdays from 9:00am - 2:00pm. The cost for this will be $65, which will also include a PYBL Summer League T-Shirt. We are also going to offer a drop off price of $10, per session. This will be good for those of you who are not sure about your players availability for the entire season. We will be collecting the fees using Venmo @PowayYouthBasketball, the last 4 digits of the phone number is 7408. When paying with Venmo, please indicate your player(s) name when submitting payment. You can also pay at the door on June 12th with a personal check or cash.
Each Saturday we will pick new teams based on player eval during practice drills before game time. Teams will be divided into 3-5 players depending on attendance and will play as a team for that day. If teams are unbalanced, player changes will be made. We are planning for each player to play at least 2 - 20 or 30 minute games. Please keep in mind that this is new and will probably take a couple of Saturdays to get the kinks out. Since the season will be starting very soon, we will not be ordering any new jerseys, we have leftovers from previous seasons that can be borrowed. We are asking that if you have one from a past season, that you plan on using it if it still fits..
We will NOT have referees at these games. The games will be observed by a board member and/or volunteer to make calls when it is not obvious. Please keep in mind there will be no COLLEGE or NBA scouts taking notes....
So with all that being said we will need some volunteers!! The first being coaches. Coaches will be selected by board members for each session.
If you haven’t coached before, then this would be a great way to start. If you have, then please volunteer.
We will also be looking for game observers, people counters, scorekeepers, temperature checkers, and player check in/out.
At this time we will be following all CDC guidelines for Covid 19 protocol. We will be doing temperature checks at the entrance and masks will be required of all. We are limited on how many people we can have in the gym at one time. We will be asking for only those that are volunteering, enter the gym. Hopefully this will change very soon.
We currently have over 100 registered players, but some of you have been registered for quite some time. Please respond ASAP to this email and let me know if your son or daughter will be joining us for the summer season.
IF YOUR SON OR DAUGHTER IS INTERESTED IN PLAYING THIS SUMMER AND HAS NOT BEEN REGISTERED, PLEASE CLICK THE LINK BELOW.
Also, please let me know if you are interested in one of the volunteer opportunities that I mentioned above.
Thank you for your patience while we get things figured out.
Please check back on December 3, 2020, to Register for the 2021 Season!!
Thank you for your patience during this time, and I hope you are all staying safe.
We will be opening registration in mid-November, plan to have assessments in January, and if everything goes well, have the kids start playing at the end of February or early March. If we are allowed to play, there will certainly be additional obstacles that will be faced with, being an indoor sport. We have also considered bringing the season outside, but playing outside on the blacktop has its own challenges. Currently, the city will only allow 55 people in the gym at one time, which would make if very difficult to have 2 games playing, with all the players, coaches, refs, and fans. This is besides the fact that they have not approved actual gameplay at this time. We are all going to be optimistic about this and do what we can to get these kids on the court to play!
For the 2019-2020 season we have decided to celebrate the two top teams in each division.
Please congratulate our Co-Champions!!
3rd and 4th - Lady Warriors and Blue Dolphins
5th and 6th - Galaxy and Sparks
7th and 8th - Heat and Legos
3rd and 4th - Ballers and Wildcats
5th and 6th - Benchwarmers and Soggy Doggies
7th and 8th - Bucket Blasters and Learn
High School - Emerald Brigade and Nevitt
PYBL CHALLENGED LEAGUE
Unfortunately the Challenged league for 2020 has been postponed, due to COVID-19. We are hoping to play again when it is safe for the players and coaches to get back on the court.
